Idaho Lottery
The first Idaho Lottery ticket was sold on July 19, 1989. Since then, the lottery has enjoyed much popularity, as is evident by the staggering 840,000 tickets sold on the first day. At the time of its creation, the lottery had just one instant-scratch game, but much has changed since then and today there are more than 1,000 scratch games available to Idaho players.
The Idaho Lottery jackpots are a big draw card. In 2005, two winners walked away with an Idaho Powerball jackpot, giving them $18,700,000 and $125,315,236. But Powerball isn’t the only lottery in this state. Mega Millions, Lucky for Life, and Lotto America tickets can also be purchased, along with single-state games Pick 3, Pick 4, Weekly Grand, Idaho Cash and 5 Star Draw.
The Idaho Lottery has its very own mascot called Ball, a life-sized Powerball lottery ball that’s regularly spotted in lottery ads and often shows up at special and sporting events.
Proceeds from the state lottery go toward schools, with almost $500 million being plowed into the school systems since 1986.
