Iowa Lottery
The first tickets for the Iowa Lottery were sold on August 22, 1985. Then, the lottery was an instant game by the name of Scratch, Match, and Win. Just one week after tickets went on sale, over 6.4 million tickets had been sold.
The Iowa Lottery has a slogan that goes, “Woo Hoo for you” and there is plenty of chances to celebrate. Many Iowa Lottery ticket holders have become instant winners. The Powerball has proven particularly popular in this state. In 2018, Lerynne West from Redfield won more than $343,000,000 when she hit the staggering Powerball jackpot, which was the 29nd win from an Iowa ticket worth over $1 million.
But it’s not just Powerball that’s popular in Iowa. Besides Mega Millions and Lucky for Life, there are a number of Iowa Lottery games available.
2010 was an especially successful year for the state lottery, with ticket sales soaring to $256 million, the highest since the Iowa Lottery first stated in 1985.
