Arkansas Lottery
The Arkansas Lottery only opened for business on November 4, 2008. Tickets were first sold on September 28, 2009, at 12:01 a.m., a staggering 95 days earlier than predicted.
Proceeds from ticket sales continue to go toward education scholarships in Arkansas. In fact, the lottery’s full title is the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery and it was the 31st lottery to offer Powerball tickets. It paid off since a $25 million Powerball jackpot ticket was sold in a store in Mayflower in early 2010. The lottery also includes Arkansas Mega Millions tickets, Lucky For Life, Natural State Jackpot, LOTTO, Cash 3 and Cash 4 tickets.
While the Arkansas lottery enjoys popularity throughout the state, the largest number of tickets come in Pulaski, closely followed by Saline and Jefferson.
This state lottery provides funds for scholarships, just as the name suggests. All proceeds go toward grants and scholarships for Arkansas residents in both private and public non-profit universities and colleges.
